About Me
Tips for Navigating the World of Home Building

When my wife and I had finally saved up enough cash to move from an apartment to a house, we were very underwhelmed with the homes available in our local market. We weren't sure if we could afford to build a new home, but we spoke to a local contractor and decided it was actually a great option for us. We signed another year lease at our apartment complex and had a lot of fun choosing all of the options for our new home. We learned a lot about the home building experience during this time and, since we loved the experience so much, we decided to create a blog to share our tips and tricks for navigating the world of home building with other people who need the help designing their new homes. Come back often for new posts!

How A Handyman Service Can Help You Declutter And Improve The Interior Of Your Home

If you need to declutter your house and get your home in order, you may have a big job ahead of you. If you don't have anyone to help, consider using a handyman service. Here are some jobs a handyman service can probably help with.

Remove Clutter From Your House

If you have heavy furniture to take to the curb, the handyman can help you lift and move things. They may even have equipment such as a hand truck or dolly they can use to make moving heavy things easier.

If you're renting a dumpster for the occasion, the handyman might make multiple trips to the dumpster for you while you sort through the clutter so the work goes quickly. The handyman might even be able to haul away clutter to the dump or recycling center for you if you don't rent a dumpster.

Install Organization Systems

If your garage has clutter because there are no shelves or organization system in place, your handyman can put up shelves or cabinets so everything you're saving has a place to go. A handyman is usually good with tools and is able to install and repair things that don't require a contractor to do.

You might want an organization system installed in your closets so they stay under control, or you may need more shelves in the bathroom or kitchen. While your handyman may have some great ideas on organizing your home, it's better to have what you need to be done planned out so the handyman can be more efficient and have the supplies needed to do the job.

Hang New Curtains Or Blinds

Once you've cleared out a room, cleaning comes next. You might want to clean and organize the rooms yourself once they've been decluttered, but you might have trouble with things like putting up new curtains or blinds since that could involve working on a ladder. If you don't have the new curtains or blinds yet, have the handyman come back once you've finished cleaning your home and complete the rest of the work you need to be done.

Put Down New Flooring

You may find when you clear away heavy items that haven't been moved in a long time, that the flooring under them has been ruined. If that's the case, talk to the handyman about putting down some new flooring.

They may need to return later to do the work, but this gives you a chance to choose the best flooring for your room. You might want vinyl planks or sheet vinyl. Both of these are easy and fairly quick to install. New flooring could make a big difference in the appearance of your rooms.

Paint Your Rooms

Painting is a big job. You may not need your entire home painted, but rooms that were used for storage of clutter might have marks on the wall or the paint just might look old and dirty. Whether you need just one room painted, all your rooms painted, or just the garage floor coated, a handyman can probably do the job and complete the transformation of your home.
