A WORD ABOUT MOTORS:: Some motors being installed in equipment today are designed to meet a price criterion and do not run well at very slow speeds. These motors have fewer iron laminates and copper windings and therefore very little counter EMF (electromotive force) produced in the coils. They rely on rotation speed rather than construction to produce counter EMF These motors will not follow the fan laws. They will not reduce amp draw consistent with speed reduction. Other motors may have bearings that are old and worn, and will be unacceptably noisy at low speeds. We recommend that when you come across one of these motors you replace it with one of the high quality Baldor motors that we market along with our controls.
